Wisdom

Wisdom

Wisdom should guide our judgement and give us insight into each person’s well-being. We regard every person we encounter as unique and having equal rights and we value the discernment every employee needs to have, to support people safely, respectfully, and with integrity.
People

People

We value a common human experience in our quest to belong. We approach each other in a person-centred way, empowering with choice and control. Our organization is diverse, and every team member adds value. We believe that natural supports including families, are enduring relationships, and should be welcomed and involved.
Collaboration

Collaboration

We value working together and selflessly taking time to help each other. We do so by communicating quickly, collaborating in all areas of our work and support, and allowing our creativity and innovation to guide us.
Positive Mindset

Positive Mindset

We embrace good attitudes and positivity. We respond with thoughtfulness, kindness, and professionalism, and we communicate quickly, respectfully, and with integrity.
Growth

Growth

We look for opportunities that include individual and collective development and well-being. We invest in each other’s learning and seek health and growth.

History

In 1984, when a group of families were told that the Ark Eden Nursing Home was scheduled to close, the organization Mariposa was created. Shortly thereafter, it was renamed Home Again which quickly became a leader in supporting people with complex care needs. The new agency began fostering the creation of similar organizations like New Beginnings.

On April 1, 1995, in an effort to reduce the number of small organizations across Toronto, the Ministry of Community and Social Services invited Home Again and New Beginnings to join forces. These two separate entities were amalgamated to form Montage Support Services.
