The 80’s was a great time for live music in Toronto. Live music in clubs with bustling with people wanting to be part of the “live music scene”. By the 2000s, with the good fortune of talented band members then known as MARKZ, Dom opened for Canadian rock luminaries Def Leppard and Honeymoon Suite.
A highlight in MAR KZ’s career was performing to a sold-out audience, opening for Bon Jovi at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. Later the MARKZ band added five dates through Ontario and Quebec by the legendary German hard rockers, The Scorpions.
Opening for Bon Jovi at the Air Canada Centre was a dream come true for Dom and a great time for his music, challenging him to be the best he could be, bringing him recognition for his music. Mar KZ also went into the studio to record an album with Bon Jovi’s producer/engineer Obie O’Brien. The chance to work with top session players and recording technicians was an eye-opening experience, one that pushed Mar KZ to raise the bar on his game as a songwriter and musician.
Fast forward to today, Dom Mar KZ’s fluency and experience in songwriting and singing continue to combine the artistry of production and musicianship to emphasize the song’s lyrical, vocal, and instrumental composition; and in doing so create several dimensions for his music and creative identity, making him a sought after performer.
He comes full circle performing on theatre stages highlighting upcoming talents and supporting worthy causes.
